A peculiar video appears to have emerged of a notorious conman - dancing to trance music alone in a room.
Michael Helsby-Knight, 54, appeared in the Auckland District Court this week where he faced more than 100 counts of obtaining by deception.
Helsby-Knight was arrested in Thailand six weeks ago and extradited to Auckland.
It is alleged he ripped off more than 100 victims out of a total of $147,000 by taking off with deposits for electrical goods.
The video recently appeared on an Australian news site, showing Helsby-Knight dancing alone.
Dressed in cream pants and a matching hat, a tight black T-shirt and black sunglasses, he thrusts his hips and swings his arms in a circular motion to drum and bass music. He maintains a large grin throughout the video but does not speak.
It is not known where the video was filmed or who posted it online but a similar image is used on Helsby-Knight's Facebook profile.
Helsby-Knight was declined legal aid this week and remanded in custody until January.
