More than 400 police will be on duty in Auckland as the Rugby World Cup final between the All Blacks and France kicks off on Sunday - and officers have been called in from across the country for the event.
Of the 417 officers on World Cup duties in the
city, 245 will be stationed at Eden Park and 105 will patrol the waterfront and fan zones including the Cloud, Queens Wharf and Captain Cook Wharf. A further 67 officers will be used if and where needed.
Thirty two officers will look after any major crime that occurs, traffic and respond to other incidents.
"For the final 13 days of the World Cup, an additional 105 officers have boosted police numbers in Auckland. They are from Invercargill to Kaitaia," said Superintendent Brett England, the officer in charge of World Cup policing in Auckland.
Outside central Auckland police numbers are also expected to be bolstered.
