The Green candidate for Hamilton West, Max Coyle, has pulled out of the election contest.
He apologised last week after the Waikato Times featured his partner, Melissa Campbell, 22, and young son, Flint, as part of an election series on voting intentions.
She said she had voted Labour in the
past and would vote Green this year but failed to disclose her links to the Green Party after being asked by the reporter.
Mr Coyle said last Tuesday he had made an error of judgment in not ensuring the Waikato Times had been advised that he was the partner of the woman interviewed.
Party co-convener Georgina Morrison said at the time that his candidacy had not been suspended but he was taking time to reflect on what had happened. He has now pulled out.
