Movie star Temuera Morrison has added a touch of authenticity to a Rotorua high school's Star Wars-themed ball.
Morrison, who played Jango Fett the bounty hunter in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, was asked to go to the Western Heights ball on Friday by his niece Ngatai Bennett, a student there.
She thought it would be "really cool" for her uncle to go, given the night was themed around a movie he had starred in.
Ngatai told only a few people, as she wanted it to be a surprise for everyone on the night. Morrison presented awards for best dressed ballgoers and ball king and queen.
Morrison said he had been looking forward to seeing all his relations dressed up.
"They look beautiful anyway, but it's a good chance for young people to look at their personal grooming ... and feel glamorous for a night."
The busy star, who has just returned from a Star Wars convention in Mexico City and the Green Lantern premiere in Los Angeles, said he was only able to be at the ball for a short time as his 6-year-old daughter was going back to Wellington yesterday and he wanted to spend time with her.
