Police who busted a Far North P lab yesterday were also investigating the importation of child pornography.
A 46-year-old woman and a 60-year-old man were arrested and charged with manufacturing and supply methamphetamine and importing ephedrine, a precursor in the manufacture of methamphetamine after searching a property near Kerikeri.
The arrests followed the interception by Customs of a large amount of ephedrine tablets at the border which were allegedly connected to the pair.
Police also found cannabis, a firearm and $5000 cash at the property and cannabis and firearm aboard a boat belonging to one of the accused on Whangarei Harbour.
An indoor cannabis growing operation was also found at a neighbouring house resulting the arrest of several other people facing minor drugs charges including cultivation and possession of cannabis.
Police also said they were investigating the importation of objectionable digital images including child pornography, although refused to reveal any more details.
