The Navy's new patrol vessel developed faults in both engines at the same time during sea trials in Australia, the Defence Force admitted yesterday.
The 1900-tonne Otago was due in Auckland this week after a maiden voyage from the Melbourne shipyard where she was built, but instead of heading across the Tasman the ship limped back to dock on one engine for repairs.
