A Hamilton man who produced a Maori Traveller's Permit as a driver's licence when stopped by police challenged the court's jurisdiction when he appeared in Hamilton District Court yesterday.
Billy Griffiths, also known as Wiremu Peihopa, appeared before Community Magistrate Susan Hovell charged with supplying false details to police. Griffiths was remanded to February 25 for a status hearing.
He told the court he would continue to drive on his Maori Traveller's Permit.
