Man being questioned over NZer's murder in Jamaica

Jamaican police have detained a 23-year-old man in connection with the death of New Zealand-born diplomat John Terry, who was severely beaten and strangled to death last month.

Police spokesman Karl Angell said the man will be questioned but had not yet been charged.

Two other men who were briefly detained in the crime have been released.

The nude body of Mr Terry, 65, was found at his home in early September, with his throat tied with a cord and clothing.

He had lived in Jamaica since 1967 and was honorary British consul at Montego Bay for 13 years.

He received a Member of the Order of the British Empire award in 1992 from Queen Elizabeth II.

In July, New Zealand tourist Tiki Hunia, 27, was killed in Jamaica during an attempted robbery at a guest house where he and wife Nickie-Jean were staying.
