Cultural and community messages proved just the ticket at one of Northland's traffic hotspots over Labour Weekend.
Beach driving behaviour was behind Operation Tauroa staged at Ahipara, where police and community partners handed out sausages and laughs along with a few friendly warnings.
The three-day operation involved Far North REAP, Department of Conservation, Ahipara Coastal Patrol and local iwi getting together with locals and beach users.
Information handed out covered the natural, cultural and spiritual heritage of Ninety Mile Beach.
Quad bikes enabled participants to drive the messages along the beach which is popular with fishing, tourism and recreational traffic.
