Investors looking to snap up a new Quest unit at the Whangarei apartment block can now do so.
Harcourts Whangarei is listing the units with the 1900sq m multi-million dollar building, the 35th Quest property in New Zealand. It has 34 rooms and is to open ahead of schedule in the spring.
The building, on the corner of Bank and Cameron St, also has five retail units in the complex, which are also for sale from this week.
The units include studio, one-bed and two-bed serviced apartments, all with en-suite. They were built over two floors and have a reception area on the ground floor. There are also 13 car park spaces beneath for guests.
The franchise will also be managed by Matthew Davidson, originally from Kensington, who is moving into the building.
Recruitment is starting for two reception staff and four to five housekeepers.
Once the units are sold, the Whangarei franchise will rent out and manage the properties on behalf of the new owners.
The retail outlets on Bank St have been marketed and leased to date by Jones Lang LaSalle.
Stephen Mansfield, CEO of Quest New Zealand, said the 4-star, serviced apartment franchise would be a boost to the city's and region's economy.
"We're delighted it has been a local-driven project from day one, from a local contractor to the suppliers who will support the business into the future," he said.
Project development manager Canvas Investments said the use of local contractors ARCO had paid off.
"We have to thank ARCO, the local contractor for doing such a good job," said Murray Alcock of Canvas.
"They will complete the job ahead of the agreed schedule, which is the icing on the cake."
