Organisers of the 144th annual Waipu Highland Games have assured the public any potential rain will not get in the way of New Year's Day festivities.
Pat Hadlee, who is handling publicity for the event, said this year is going to be even better than before.
"It's a real variety," she said. "There's just so much for everyone to enjoy".
The games usually attract a crowd of 5000, although Ms Hadlee said she was expecting more this year.
Event-goers will want to keep an eye out for the Ballistic Blondes Sky Dive team, who will parachute in about 12.30pm, wearing kilts, of course.
