It was all about buns, braids and bold colours in an inaugural Whangarei Christmas fashion show.
Over 40 Northland models took to the catwalk in the NorthTec Savvy Christmas Fashion Show on Friday night, wearing the latest local fashions with hair and heels high and red-painted lips.
Event organiser, the Northern Advocate's Hayley Copsey, was pleased with the turnout - over 350 people - and said the show had been booked for the next three years, with a winter collection show also on the cards.
A collaboration between NorthTec and NZME. (including the Northern Advocate and The Hits), the event showcased fashion creations from NorthTec students, as well bright, summery collections from local retailers including Mallets, Red Ruby, Gaabo, So Street and TS14 Plus.
Guests received champagne and canapes created by NorthTec students on arrival, before strolling past retailers stalls and into Forum North's Exhibition Hall, which was decked out with black drapes, screens, tiered seating, a fountain of fairy lights and a catwalk.
