The inaugural Kerikeri Open Arts Studios Trail has been hailed as a "screaming success" by one of the participating artists.
The Labour Weekend event saw 50 Kerikeri artists open their homes and studios to the public at 31 locations.
The deliberately wide range of art encompassed painting, jewellery, print making, weaving, ceramics, carving, glass, photography and even kaleidoscope making. It was organised by a group of volunteers led by Ann Winship, who had taken part in similar trails in her native California, with help from the organisers of the popular trail held at Whangarei Heads every Easter.
Painter Monika Welch said "extraordinary numbers" of people had come through her studio during the three-day event. She had taken lots of orders for prints and received three new commissions.
Her daughter Jaz, who is still at high school, had sold four photographs.
