The man who will soon be feeding a 1000 Whangarei schools kids a hot meal at least once a week would like people to join the club - the $15 a month club.
Buddhi Wilcox, who co-ordinates the local Hare Krishna community's Food For Life centre, said individuals or groups wanting to help the voluntary scheme provide those meals could pledge as little as $15 a month, about the cost of buying a coffee a week.
"We're presenting food that is tasty, nutritionally balanced and cheap to provide, and the kids really like it."
Three new schools are joining the tuck-shop-with-a-difference scheme that has, since October 2012, provided meals at Manaia View Primary (now 180 pupils receive those meals), which was soon followed by Te Kura O Otangarei (80 meals).
The new schools are Ruakaka Primary (160 pupils), Totara Grove Primary (320) and Tikipunga High School's junior classes (245).
