The pageant will be held on January 11 and 12, 2014 because the tides and the moon will be suitable for performances in which a waka rows up the Waihoihoi River.
Spectacle scenes will be enacted on the flat flood plain across the river, and the personal drama will take place on stages erected on the riverbank. Audiences will be seated in an area of the Glebe which forms a natural amphitheatre and which will be able to fit 4,000 people.
More information will be provided as the pageant takes shape but for now, you can visit www.waipumuseum.com

Grant's Whisky & Bowls New Zealand
"We definitely won the Grant's $1000, it's in the bank," said One Tree Point Bowling Club Match Convenor Linda Wyness.
The Grant's competition instructions said "We're talking fancy dress, decorations, cocktails, games - go all out. Then simply send us a description and photos of your evening by March 2, 2012, and if yours is the most impressive, you'll win the cash!"
This column published pictures of the bowlers on March 1 and we are pleased to congratulate the club on their win.
We are also pleased to announce that they have been nominated for The Bowls Northland awards for the club of the year, the greenkeeper of the year and the administrator of the year.
"We have been nominated for these but we will not know if we have won anything until the dinner on May 26," Ms Wyness said.
Coronation Hall action
The Waipu Coronation Hall is holding their AGM on Thursday June 14 at 7.30pm. All interested residents, please come along.
Waipu Joint Venture The Waipu Coronation Hall was also recently packed with 200 guests ready to dine, buy up large at auction and hear guest speaker Eric Rush at the Waipu Joint Venture fundraising dinner on Friday, May 4.
Chef Greg Smith and his volunteer team produced a fantastic silver service three-course dinner, using the hall and rugby club kitchens.
Eric Rush, ex All Black and former Kaeo son, spoke for well over an hour, enthralling the capacity crowd.
MC and auctioneer Steve Jones kept the night humming, and produced a hilarious and lively auction.
Auction items ranged from farm materials and contracting through to flights abroad, dinner for two, lacy lingerie, and copious quantities of whisky.
The winning bid for two jars of marmite was an astonishing $285.
Thanks to the many sponsors and volunteers, the Waipu Joint Venture dinner and auction raised $20,000 to put towards the refurbishment of the Waipu Hall.
It has brought the town closer to having the hall's toilets upgraded, and a new commercial kitchen installed that can handle sizeable functions on its own, without the need for the chefs to keep fit by running back and forth across the rugby field.
A huge thanks to everyone for great support and attendance from the Waipu Joint Venture Committee which is comprised of the Waipu Caledonian Society, Coronation Hall committee and interested community members.
