The International Badminton Federation has confirmed that four New Zealand tournaments this year will attract world ranking points.
The Counties-Manukau, North Harbour, Auckland and New Zealand championships will be known as "internationals." They have been added to the worldwide list of tournaments that contribute to the world standing of players at the end of each season.
Badminton New Zealand executive director Roger Wood says the upgraded status will help to attract overseas players to New Zealand.
The Counties-Manukau tournament is on April 27-29, North Harbour on May 4-6, Auckland on July 20-22 and New Zealand on August 23-26 in Hamilton.
