Irate credit card shoppers are leaving Petone's Pak 'N Save supermarket in the Hutt Valley, because they can no longer pay by credit card.
VISA and Mastercard withdrew their facilities from the supermarket, which had been adding a 1 per cent surcharge on each credit card transaction.
Pak 'N Save co-owner Kieran O'Sullivan says he is assessing the impact of the credit card companies' move. He says it has not been a good few days for the supermarket, dealing with customers upset they cannot use their credit cards.
He says it is unfair that some other companies can pass on a credit card surcharge to customers but he cannot.
