New Zealand racing driver Matt Halliday will rejoin the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup Championship for the final two rounds being held at the new Yassmarina circuit in Abu Dhabi (UAE) this weekend. Halliday still leads the Rookie Trophy segment of the series that will again be supporting the season endingFormula One Grand Prix Championship.
Monaco race date change
The F1 Monaco Grand Prix has been moved forward one week to May 16, 2010. The FIA has approved in principle a proposal to swap the dates of the Abu Dhabi and Brazilian Grand Prix, pending agreement with the promoters of both events. Scholarship entries
Entries close for the 2010 Rally New Zealand Rising Stars Scholarship on Monday and a pre-selection panel will choose the top 12 entries who will get the opportunity to contest the final shootout in Maramarua Forest on November 20-22. The winner's package includes the use of a Ford Fiesta ST rally car to contest the Group N3 category of the 2010 NZ Rally Championship.
Endurance series finale
The ASKO Appliances South Island Endurance Series races into its Grand Finale at Ruapuna today with over 40 cars ready to battle it out in the annual Southern 300 endurance race and series bragging rights. Also up for grabs is an original watercolor painting by Dunedin artist Norman Sinclair valued at around $10,000 that will be given away as a spot prize.
Ultima GTR720 lap record
Michael Schumacher's lap record at the Top Gear test track in a £1 million ($2.2 million) FXX Ferrari has been beaten by a road legal Ultima GTR720 worth around $70,000. A Yahoo report says the car manufacturer hired the track privately and its car beat the existing record of 1m10.7s by eight-tenths of a second.
