New Zealand motocross rider Josh Coppins has reached a career crossroads after failing to receive a contract extension from his Yamaha team.
This year's MX1 world championship campaign will be Coppins' last for the team, who will halve their two-rider factory team in 2010 because of budget constraints.
Coppins, 32,suspected age was behind his dropping and told Radio New Zealand he had given serious thought to winding down his 15-year career as a professional.
"To be honest, at first I wanted to come home... do some racing in Australia and step down slowly," he said.
"(But) I've had some good opportunities arise from other teams to stay here in Europe so I'm looking at all the possibilities at the moment."
Coppins twice finished second in the MX1 world championship and was seemingly on the verge of a maiden title in 2007 when leading comfortably through 10 of 15 rounds before a shoulder injury struck and he finished third.
