Lewis Road has this week announced their expansion from pastures to orchards with the launch of their new Lewis Road Orchard premium apple ciders.
The brand's previous launches have stirred social media frenzies, often selling out and seeing the brand enforce limits on the quantities customers can buy.
But will their latest offering live up to the hype we've come to expect from the brand?
Our Herald Focus panel were sent samples of the orange, apple and peach ciders which they tasted and gave their honest verdict.
Right off the bat the panel felt the ciders lacked the punch they'd come to expect from a typical cider. But they were aromatic, attractively packaged and had unique flavours.
Each flavour had a distinct scent and taste which Jenni thought made them easy to drink, especially if they were paired with summer fruits. She couldn't help but feel that the cider lacked that something "special", like the brand's dairy products has.
Panel member Mitch also felt the ciders were less of "an experience" than what he was used to from Lewis Road but said he would still happily buy them in the future, deeming them good flavours and easy to drink.
Gracie felt she would happily drink the cider if she was offered it but wouldn't actively go out to buy it as it seemed to lack any "wow factor".
So will people be banging down the doors for the latest Lewis Road offering? The jury's still out on that one.
