Hopefully you are enjoying a couple of buttered hot cross buns over your Bite this morning. I am. Which means crumbs in the bed, but I've got all day to sort that out.

I also have all day to bake a cake - my new favourite, feijoa and ginger and to take my time over dinner, which will be something slow-cooked in the oven or, now that Peter Gordon has me all excited about them, maybe something from my new pressure cooker.

If you're heading home after a weekend away, Kathy Paterson's quick marinated vegetable chicken salad is for you - make plenty for a leftovers lunch tomorrow.

Speaking of leftovers, if you find yourself with a few hot cross buns you know won't get eaten, don't forget Warren Elwin's set of fresh ideas for those past their best. Perhaps there is also time to make a hot cross bun butter and banana pudding tonight.
