Is Kate Middleton the best looking UK royal ever?

Kate Middleton could be the most beautiful British royal ever when she weds Prince William.

Middleton is leading the competition in a global online search for the best-looking royal, that has attracted more than 127,000 respondents.

The poll by online dating site BeautifulPeople.com is also inviting votes for the least attractive.

People from anywhere in the world have until tonight to cast their vote on the website, and results will be announced tomorrow.

Miss Middleton is third on the poll on 84 per cent, ahead of Diana, Princess of Wales, who is in fourth place on 82 per cent.

Princess Grace of Monaco leads the poll with 91 per cent, followed by Queen Rania of Jordan on 90 per cent.

Princess Margaret is the only other British royal in the top 10, with 70 per cent.

"We've opened up the voting so that subjects in every nation can judge past and present monarchs, as well as duchesses, princes and princesses in waiting, in a history-making beauty contest," said Greg Hodge, managing director of BeautifulPeople.com.

"Kate Middleton is no typical beauty. But her style, deportment and immaculate grooming have clearly won her an army of admirers, propelling her to the same heights as Princess Grace and Queen Rania," he said.

"I think the world is breathing a sigh of relief that the British monarchy can only get better looking in generations to come."

But British royals also dominate the "ugly list", with Princess Eugenie of York leading the pack with 33 per cent of votes.

Voters are considering her even less attractive than Princess Fiona from Shrek, who shares 32 per cent of the "ugly votes" with Prince Andrew's other daughter, Beatrice.

Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, is on 21 per cent, just behind Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall.

Prince Charles is just in the top 10 of the men's best-looking list. Prince Carl Phillip of Sweden leads the men's list, Prince William is on fifth, just behind brother Prince Harry.
