Police concerns are mounting for the wellbeing of a Wellington mental health patient who disappeared more than a week ago.
Malcolm Freeman, 50, a resident of Mash Community House in the suburb of Miramar, was last seen about 7.30am on January 16.
Mr Freeman required regular medication and he was
unlikely to have any in his possession, given the length of time he had been missing, Detective Sergeant Fleur De Bes today said.
"Police spent the weekend delivering flyers in and around the eastern suburbs and in the central city, in the hope that someone may have recognised Mr Freeman and may know his whereabouts."
Ms De Bes said police would continue to investigate, but were keen to hear from anyone who may have any information.
Mr Freeman was described as Caucasian, about 155cm tall, of medium build, with grey hair, slightly balding on top with a full black and grey beard and moustache.
He often visited the botanical gardens and regularly attended church services around the city.
