How's this for committed support of one's ITM Cup rugby side?
Whangarei real estate agent Gary Younger bought a limousine he saw on Trade Me last month with the aim of travelling to all of Northland's away games this season. He has nicknamed the black limo which has the Northland Taniwha logo on the rear windows "tani-cah".
"I had a look at the draw and when I saw all of Northland's away games were in the North Island I thought it would be a good idea. We were just pipped when we challenged Waikato for the Ranfurly Shield, we drew against North Harbour and today we will have our first win," Younger quipped before setting off from Meeanee Quay to Napier's McLean Park yesterday for Northland's match against the Hawke's Bay Magpies.
Younger, who is the president of the Marist club's junior section in Whangarei, had his two sons on board and a niece from Cambridge whom he picked up en route to Napier on Saturday.
"We would have had supporters piled on the roof if you blokes had the Ranfurly Shield. We had nine of us in the car when we went to Hamilton.
