Hawke's Bay cyclist Regan Gough finished second in the recent Canberra Junior Tour of Australia. Gough, who was a member of the New Zealand under-17 team on the 500plus rider-four stage tour, was also a comfortable winner of the King of the Mountain title.
Hawke's Bay's Phoebe Treseder, who was also in the Kiwi under-17 team, placed midfield but broke away on the last criterium stage of the tour.
Unfortunately for Treseder the race was stopped and re-started because of a crash so her lead was nullified.
Another Bay cyclist, Sam Thorpe-Loversuch, competed in the under-15 section of the tour as an independent rider along with national champion Campbell Stewart of Manawatu. Stewart finished second and Thorpe-Loversuch fourth. Thorpe-Loversuch was third in the opening time trial stage.
