Hawke's Bay golf professional Doug Holloway hit a three-under par 69 at the Denarau resort Golf Course in Nadi yesterday to be tied in equal second place. The Te Pohue player is chasing a $F50,000 prizemoney after a dream start to a series of pro-ams in Queensland, Australia, over three weeks. Kiwi golfers Brad Shilton and Glen Millin are joint leaders, one stroke ahead of Holloway, at the par 72 course. "I played really good and was perhaps a bit too hard on myself after making a couple of bogeys," the 22-year-old Maraenui Golf Club member said last night from Fiji.
He found the conditions in Fiji very similar to Papua New Guinea and Malaysia and said the ball was travelling much further in the heat.
