Local schools were treated to a flying visit from the deputy prime minister yesterday as she travelled around the Bay on her campaign trail.
Paula Bennett arrived yesterday morning and visited Ahuriri Shopping Centre, Marine Parade and the Napier Police Station before heading to Te Mata Primary and Havelock North High schools.
The minister of climate change issues, police, state services, tourism and women, said she wanted to come here to support Napier candidate David Elliott and Tukituki candidate Lawrence Yule while also talking to locals about what their issues were.
"We are on the campaign trail now so there are no two ways about it and I want to talk about what is going on and also talk about what National has to offer."
The children at Te Mata Primary welcomed Ms Bennett with a haka before singing songs and engaging in a Q and A session.
