The temperature will also drop from highs of about 16C and 17C tomorrow to a high of just 12C on Friday and 11C on Saturday.
"The southerly flow causes the drop in temperatures and snow is expected to fall above 700m so will hit the Hawke's Bay ranges."
It was also looking like a wet weekend, with rain expected to continue through Saturday and Sunday.
Mr Bell said the worst day of the week was looking like Saturday with heavy falls forecast to fall throughout the day.
This was not good news for the Tutira Planting Day, which had previously been postponed from July 15 after the heavy rain two weeks ago.
The planting day is scheduled to take place on Saturday from 10am until 1pm at Lake Tutira with the Maungaharuru-Tangitu Trust and project partners.
Mr Bell said the weekend was still a while away so the weather forecast could still change.
However, today was expected to be mainly fine with just a few showers possible in the ranges and possibly in urban parts of the Bay.
"A front moves over the North Island on Tuesday but the heavy rain won't hit Hawke's Bay, you may just get some scattered falls."
Tomorrow was looking like the pick of the week with sunny spells and a high of 16C.
Mr Bell said people would be feeling cold overnight with a low of 2C last night and a low of 3C expected tonight.
"There are clear skies at night bringing these cooler temperatures but on Thursday the temperature won't be as cold as the cloud comes in."
There will be an overnight low of 8C on Thursday and 5C on Friday.
