The impact a $38 million Ministry of Health budget blunder will have on the Hawke's Bay District Health Board is yet to be determined.
Last Friday the DHB was advised its allocation of funding for the 2017/18 financial year would be nearly $2m less than the original amount due to a "technical issue" that had resulted in an incorrect funding amount being allocated in May.
Hawke's Bay District Health Board chief executive Kevin Snee said as the DHB only had the advice on Friday, the impact of the financial loss on budget planning for the next year was not yet determined.
"How this will be dealt with in our budget is yet to be decided, however we still hope to take the final budget to the board at the end of June, for sign-off," he said.
Budget 2017 allocated a total of $439m to DHBs throughout the country; 14 of which received too much money as $38m was incorrectly distributed.
