The Aotea Sports Club is celebrating 115 years, with its rugby teams delivering the icing on the birthday cake.
Last Saturday the senior second rugby team won its way through to the final of the Pratt Trophy, defeating Pirates 68-10 at Dannevirke's Rugby Park. The win gave the team a home semifinal in Dannevirke tomorrow.
Team manager Ken Todd said Aotea was lucky the draw had gone their way.
"We needed the win and a bonus point to make it through to the finals against Napier Old Boys Marist and that's what we did," Todd said.
"At the moment our whole team is playing well and with the new fellas we've got, it's been unreal. I just can't wait until tomorrow."
