Hawke's Bay District Health Board members took the opportunity to receive a flu jab while at a meeting last week.
All members apart from Dan Druzianic, who was absent from the meeting, received the shot which is offered free to all staff of the DHB.
Executive director strategy and health improvement Tracee Te Huia said one in four New Zealanders were infected with the flu each year.
"While many of those may not feel sick at all, they can still pass it on to others, which is why we encourage and offer it free to all our staff."
Ms Te Huia said pregnant women and their babies could suffer serious consequences from the flu, with unvaccinated pregnant women at a higher risk from the flu even if they were fit and healthy.
