Hundreds of people with wheels of all different shapes and sizes flocked to the opening of Bay Skate on Saturday.
The new-look skate park, which has replaced Sk8 Zone, opened on Saturday and saw people testing out the new facilities, which include a bowl area, a rink and a ramp space (still in development).
Councillor Keith Price, chair of the Marine Parade Redevelopment Committee and closely involved with the Napier skate park project, said it was great seeing people enjoying the new facilities.
"It was a really good turn-out. The highlight was seeing young and old using the skate park. There were some pretty experienced skaters which were amazing to watch, as well as the young ones giving it a go."
The day included demonstrations from Guns n Roses Roller Derby, the Bay City Rollers, Napier Sharks inline hockey, MGP Scooters, plus entertainment from local musicians.
