Could Napier's McLean Park be ready to host the Super Rugby match between the Hurricanes and Chiefs if Wellington's stormy weather continued tomorrow night?
Hawke's Bay rugby fans were asking the question yesterday and Hawke's Bay Rugby Union CEO Mike Bishop said, while his union would always be keen to host a Super fixture, the chances of scoring tomorrow's were slim.
"One reason would be the fact we haven't got the goal posts up yet and another would be the fact McLean Park hasn't been marked yet.
"So, on those counts alone, the answer to the question would be no," Mr Bishop said.
Earlier yesterday he had talked to Hurricanes officials about planning for the June 5 match at McLean Park between the Canes and Highlanders.
