The Office of the Auditor-General has declined to investigate a second complaint against the Local Government Commission from anti-amalgamation interests in Hawke's Bay.
Napier City Council wrote to the Auditor-General early last month complaining about financial information the commission was circulating in support of its proposal to amalgamate the region's five councils into a single local authority for the region.
The council said the information - comparing the state of local authority road and water network assets across Hawke's Bay - was incorrect and unfairly painted Napier City in a bad light.
The comparison was contained in a report published by the commission and summarised in a pamphlet circulated to homes across the region.
The pamphlet was also the subject of a second complaint to the Office of the Auditor-General, lodged last week by Napier woman Sarah Taylor last week.
