Competition between Napier City Council staff will be rife this weekend as they go head to head in the Tremains Triathlon tomorrow.
The council have 20 teams entered in this year's event - a record number.
Napier City Council chief executive Wayne Jack said he'd been quite vocal in suggesting his staff sign up and he would be putting his money where his mouth was and taking part too.
"I've been actively encouraging staff to take part and so it would be a bit hypocritical if I didn't put my hand up," Mr Jack said. "We've got 60 staff signed up and it's great to see councillors Maxine Boag and Graeme Taylor are also competing in a council team."
Mr Jack, who would be competing in the cycle leg of the event, admitted he was quite competitive.
