The low pressure bracing Hawke's Bay is set to continue over the weekend, although drier spells can be expected for most parts, says Weather Watch meteorologist Philip Duncan.
He says tomorrow will bring scattered showers for most of the region, but northern Hawke's Bay could expect heavier rain in the afternoon because cloudy rain bands will hit it first.
The MetService says the high for Hastings and Napier tomorrow will be 16C and temperatures are not expected to rise until the middle of next week.
The miserable weather is coming from Australia, as the thunderstorms hitting Sydney and Brisbane move across the Tasman Sea. The low pressure will bring splashes of rain to the region over the next five days.
Mr Duncan says the amount of rain fallen so far is hard to gauge, as some has been patchy with drizzle while other falls have been downpours.
