Motorists travelling through Hawke's Bay can expect only minor delays this weekend with only one major highways network project being carried out.
That is on SH5 between Napier and Taupo and involves an extensive repair of the Mohaka Bridge superstructure.
The work began on October 31 and is expected to be wrapped up around the first week of January.
A speed limit of 30km/h has been imposed on the bridge and its approaches, with temporary traffic lights in place as traffic has been reduced to a single lane centrally located along the bridge.
A maximum permitted gross weight for each truck is 60 tonnes, with operators asked to travel across the bridge with a clear separation between heavy vehicles of 40m.
