Firefighters spent about four hours at the Pan Pac Forest Products mill at Whirinaki early yesterday, after a small fire broke out in one of the drying machines.
The alarm was raised just after 2am. A Fire Service spokesman said while the fire was not major, the work of going through the drying mill area to deal with it was time consuming.
"There are some awkward processes to go through." Damage was understood to be minor.
Fire crews were called to the mill in early August after a bearing failed, causing smoke to emerge from the pulp drying lines.
On that occasion they were on the scene for about three hours.
