A Napier woman was dragged from her car and sexually assaulted while on a "smoko break" near her place of work in Ahururi last night.
Police said in a statement that the woman, who works at the Princess Alexandra Retirement Village in Ahuriri, was attacked near the village complex at about 9.45pm last night. She was sitting in her car parked on Domett St that runs along the rear of the complex having a "smoko break" when a man approached her.
Detective Sergeant Jason Crowe said the man dragged her out of the car and onto Ahuriri Park, which borders Domett St and sexually assaulted her.
The woman was found about half an hour later by her work colleagues. She received minor injuries in the attack.
Mr Crowe said police were keen to speak to anyone who was in the Ahuriri Park or Princess Alexandra village area around the time of the attack.
