Unison Networks is calling for the public to report cases of vandalism on its work sites after safety barriers were disturbed on a Napier road, endangering the public.
Unison Group chief executive officer Ken Sutherland said he was concerned after vandals pushed safety barriers into trenches along Kennedy Rd recently, where the company was working on underground electrical services.
Their actions had endangered the public, Mr Sutherland said.
"This morning our crews arrived to find that safety barriers and temporary traffic light equipment had been pushed into work site trenches, leaving both foot traffic and vehicles vulnerable to work site safety hazards."
The sites were now safe after the electricity distributing company's employees restored the equipment to its proper location. Unison was contacting residents in the vicinity yesterday to warn them of the vandalism risk and provide safety information.
