Last week, Martin and I did something we've never done with kumara before. We sliced it, toasted it, smothered it with peanut butter and ate it.
And it was surprisingly okay! This weird new food trend was discovered by a blogger who ran out of bread one day and thought "why not use kumara instead?" Of course when she made her kumara toast, the slices were thin and even.
We work in an office that provides substandard kitchen equipment so after hacking away at our kumara with a seriously blunt knife for several minutes, we decided to pull out the big guns.
Whilst I wouldn't recommend slicing vegetables with a guillotine at home, Martin managed to produce two semi bread-like slices without losing any fingers. After initially declaring that kumara toast tasted like dirt, he found it got better the more you ate.
