For two decades, retired teacher John Lewis had pondered how he could create three-dimensional sculptures that would depict different words depending on which perspective the viewer looked at them.
"For the past few years, I've been experimenting and have found a way to do it," said John, 75.
He has created eight sculptures in which balls, beads or blocks are supported or suspended in three dimensional space so each ball forms part of one word from the front, and those same balls all form the second word when viewed from the side.
John's exhibition - 2PoV, which stands for 'two points of view' - is at Creative Waikato on Alexandra St from August 18-28.
One of John's sculptures reads 'Hamilton' from the front and 'Waikato' from the side and has been created using red, yellow and black beads.
