Hamilton City Council are working with residents in Wimbledon Close and Twickenham Place to monitor subsidence issues.
Hamilton News reported in June on lakes in backyards, exposed foundations, decks balancing precariously on blocks of wood, and gas lines disconnecting as homes shifted due to subsidence. The area is mainly peat, and LIM reports done on some of the properties prior to purchase did not indicate there could be issues in the future.
Phil Saunders, building control manager at Hamilton City Council, said: "We have contacted all the residents affected by subsidence in Wimbledon Close and Twickenham Place, and have provided follow-up meetings for those that requested them. We have continued to work with those people who wanted further advice.
"As part of this we have suggested ways to mitigate the subsidence and problems it can cause."
Monitoring stations have been set up and will be checked every six months to provide information toward understanding the subsidence over time.
