Hamilton City Council Chief Executive Barry Harris has today resigned.
His last day at council will be October 17.
Mr Harris leaves after three and a half years at Hamilton City Council. Mr Harris is on the boards of several organisations, including AgResearch and DairyNZ, and following a career in local government and the private sector.
A press release issued by council this afternoon said Mr Harris had decided the time was right to focus on his directorship roles.
Mayor Julie Hardaker said that Harris had been an outstanding chief executive.
