With burgers that include aged gouda, New Zealand wild venison, and five spice pork belly, it is no wonder Goneburger is gaining enough popularity to look at moving into a permanent location.
The Cambridge and Hamilton mobile burger trailer has been in operation for just over a year, and owner Chris McIntosh says the next step may be a permanent restaurant in Hamilton to expand their menu.
"We can offer a bigger range and turn it into more of a restaurant; I want to head away from the burger bar idea."
Starting Goneburger when he no longer had a job, he decided to use his experience he gained from running Punnet Cafe, and put it into his own business.
"I wanted something healthier, better quality, more humane. We use free range meat, we make everything ourselves so we know what is in everything.
"It is hard to start with, just me and my wife at night doing all the prep, but I still had a job to go to during the day which I quickly chucked in because this was so popular."
All the meat is free range and they use organic where possible.
The burger ingredients are made from scratch except the cheese and buns so they know exactly what goes in them keeping them preservative and chemical free.
The reason behind the trailer was the ease and speed to set it up, taking only three weeks with the help of some family and friends.
Having taken a step back now, Chris says he is conscious of his work-life balance and is focused on health and wellbeing.
Currently studying nutrition, as well as being involved in cross fit and martial arts, he says Goneburger provides good food that people do not have to feel guilty about.
"It's not a piece of meat in a bun, we have all this salad, meat, cheese, sauces, most burger bars are just meat and bun.
"Ours are much healthier, fresher, we serve a wide range of protein, chicken, lamb, vegetarian, fish."
The menu ranges in price between $13 and $16, and has a creative range of choices such as 'Meat The Ex', 'Piggie In The Middle', 'Drunken Sailor', and 'The Morning After'.
There are different dietary options such as vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free, and Chris says if people ask staff should be able to work in with their needs.
"We wanted to cater for all dietary needs, anything you can't have we can probably find a way around it."
The burger trailer is located in Hamilton down at Swarbrick Landing on River Road on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday from 5.30pm to 8.30pm, as well as in Cambridge on Thursday and Friday from 5.30pm to 8.30pm.
