Living Streets Hamilton will be holding a series of two Autumn Sunday Strolls this month, following on from the growing popularity of its annual Spring Strolls.
The walks will be held on Sunday, April 6 and 13, both starting at 2pm and lasting for 60-90 minutes depending on walking pace. People are asked to bring comfortable walking shoes, a raincoat, drink bottle and sunscreen.
The first walk on April 6 is a repeat of an extremely popular walk held about 18 months ago, and currently a topical issue - Waiwhakareke reserve. The area has been the subject of controversy over the fate of five hectares of land adjacent to the present reserve.
This guided tour, again led by a Living Streets member with long experience of the Waiwhakareke restoration, will lead walkers around the present reserve and point out the land area concerned. The history of the area and its restoration programme will be explained as the walk progresses.
Meet in the car park directly across the road from Hamilton Zoo by 2pm.
