DVD Review: Jack Reacher (+trailer)

By Craig Nicholson

I can't say I'm a big fan of Tom Cruise the person but I have no complaints with Tom Cruise the actor.

He seems to have the crucial ability to make you believe in his character and forget who he really is.

As Jack Reacher he delivers another impressive performance.

This is a good action/adventure yarn with the added bonus of a strong storyline.

Reacher is a mystery man who has the ability to disappear and reappear when it suits him.

A former army criminal investigator, Reacher is exceptionally good at what he does.

When a sniper guns down five seemingly random people in Pittsburgh, the evidence points conclusively to James Barr (Joseph Sikora), a former US Army sniper.

There are fingerprints and shell casings that make it an open-and-shut case.

But Barr has only one thing to say: Get Jack Reacher.

Barr and Reacher had a run-in during army days and he believes only Reacher can discover what really happened.

With the help of Barr's lawyer, Helen Rodin (Rosamund Pike), Reacher discovers anomalies in the case that force him to question police evidence.

The further he digs, the more he becomes convinced there is a conspiracy at work and Barr is the fall guy.

As the pieces fall together, an ingenious plot emerges and we discover who is behind it all.
