You'd think 50 years of chasing the bad guys would be tiring, wouldn't you?

Maybe it's time to stay dead for a while and enjoy the beach, booze and girls?

James Bond, secret agent 007, has been serving Her Majesty's MI6 through a myriad adventures and his latest adversary is no less dangerous than those who came before him.

Returning to the fold after his last mission nearly went horribly wrong, Bond's resurrection is complete when M gives him back his full agent status - despite some misgivings.

And the mission: Bond (Daniel Craig) must find and subdue the creepy madman Silva (Javier Bardem) before hereveals the identity of fellow secret agents across the world and exacts his revenge on M (Dame Judi Dench).

Silva was once a colleague of Bond's until M washed her hands of him when he went rogue.

Angry and obsessed, nothing less than her death will do for Silva.

Silva poses a real threat to Bond with his supreme intellect and total disregard for humanity.

Bond doesn't know it, but every move he makes is being orchestrated by Silva with the ultimate aim of luring him and M into his trap.

Just when Bond thinks he is getting close, the madman skips away all too easily.

And the hunt for Silva is typical Bond.

There's car chases, motorbike chases and a multitude of gunfights and fistfights.

There's an out-of-control train hurtling through a tunnel.

There's danger and adventure at every turn.

Skyfall hasn't moved away from the proven Bond formula.

It is all action throughout its 145 minutes and it builds up to the ultimate showdown on a remote Scottish country estate.

It comes down to kill or be killed and Bond must use his special skills to survive and protect M.
