An Auckland court has ordered the extradition to Australia of a man on charges linked to the death of a seaman nearly 30 years ago.
48 year old John Raymond Munce confessed to police that he murdered seamen Les Forrest on the freighter Ngahere in 1971 while it was berthed at Newcastle.
It was initially thought Mr Forrest had accidentally fallen down some stairs while he was drunk.
Munce did not contest an extradition order during a hearing in the Auckland District Court this morning.
