It's not often you get to see Tom Cruise die on screen given his star power, but it seems everything is up in the air in his latest movie.
The trailer for The Mummy has dropped, and it's already in the running for the weirdest blockbuster of 2017.
The trailer opens with Cruise's character Nick Morton onboard an army plane with a coffin. The plane is brought down by a powerful birdstrike, tearing a hole in the plane and bringing Cruise down with it.
Only, in the next shot he wakes up naked in a morgue, kicking off the supernatural infused movie.
"Welcome to a new world of gods and monsters," Dr Jekyll, played by Russell Crowe, announces, as we get shots of the Mummy, Princess Ahmanet, blowing up London with magic dust.
The trailer is light on plot, keeping things under wraps for closer to the June 8 release date.
The Mummy is the first in a new cinematic universe based around the Universal Monsters of the 1930s. It will be followed by the Invisible Man, starring Johnny Depp, Bride of Frankenstein with Javier Bardem, and Wolf Man tipped to star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
The Mummy also stars Sofia Boutella, Courtney B. Vance, Jake Johnson and Annabelle Wallis. It is directed by The Amazing Spider-Man 2 co-writer Alex Kurtzman.
